The Casablanca Tango Cup is an international tango event bringing together dancers, schools and tango communities from around the world in one of Morocco’s most vibrant cities.

More than a traditional competition, the Casablanca Tango Cup is designed as a tango tournament between communities, where dancers represent their city, their school or their tango scene in a spirit of exchange, creativity and passion.

Open to all levels, the event invites amateur and advanced dancers to share the dance floor, meet other communities and celebrate Argentine tango in an inspiring setting.

A Unique Tango Event in Casablanca

The Casablanca Tango Cup takes place in the Palais du Méchouar, an exceptional historical venue in Casablanca, rarely open to the public.

Dancing tango in this remarkable location offers a unique experience, combining heritage, culture and the elegance of Argentine tango.

The event is supported by major partners including the Region Casablanca-Settat, the Regional Tourism Council, the Embassy of Argentina, and several private sponsors.

A New Concept: The Inter-Community Tango Tournament

Unlike many traditional tango competitions, the Casablanca Tango Cup focuses on community spirit and connection.

Dancers can participate individually or represent their school, city or tango community, creating an atmosphere that combines friendly competition with collaboration and shared passion.

The goal is not only to win but to motivate dancers, encourage preparation and strengthen connections between tango communities worldwide.

Competition Categories

Participants can compete in several categories:

  • Tango Pista – social improvisation, danced like in a milonga
  • Tango Vals – improvisation to vals music
  • Tango Milonga – improvisation to milonga rhythms
  • Milonguero / Milonguera – partner drawn randomly
  • Tango Escenario – choreographed stage tango

The improvisation categories reflect the essence of Argentine tango: connection, musicality and spontaneous interpretation.

International Jury
& Artistic Direction

The competition will be judged by internationally recognized tango maestros:

Carla Domínguez & Jesús Taborda
Three-time medalists at the World Tango Championship in Buenos Aires, performing and teaching around the world.

Participants will also receive feedback from the jury, offering valuable insights to help dancers improve and develop their tango.

The musical atmosphere of the event will be led by internationally renowned Argentine DJ Gaston Godoy, known for his elegant and powerful musical selections.
